Bottle brush tree leaves falling off

I just bought this tree about 3 weeks ago and the good green leaves are falling off by the handful? It’s planted in the ground where it gets good Sun? What is happening to it? Plus some of the Stems are dry and cracking off. It has plenty of water, fertilizer spike, and mulch around it.including first pic of tree and new pic. Please Help this first time tree grower. Thank you
