I live in San Diego, CA. Is there a special kind of those plants to get for a garden here?

You want to look for a blackberry or raspberry that has low chilling requirements for best results. Some varieties to look at are Brazos, Choctaw, Natchez, Navaho, Shawnee and Tupi.
