Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comCan blackberry plants be successfully transplanted in the late summer or fall? My wife loves blackberries and the romantic in me wants to get her plants for her birthday, but her birthday is August 22. I could give a raincheck until later in the fall but I do not think I can give a gift she won’t receive until next spring. I live in the Nebraska City, NE area.

Blackberries are hard to kill, so transplanting anytime except during the mid-summerheat and drought should be OK. However, it is usually better to wait until the plants are dormant in fall.
