Q.Black Soot/Mildew Removal From Gardenias

The two gardenia trees [perhaps overgrown bushes] are in southwest Florida. Proper nutrition [past] is not likely. On a going forward basis, is Miracle-Gro for acid loving plants satisfactory? Also looking for a home receipe for mold/soot removal. Thanks for the help!

Yes, the fertilizer should be fine as long as it's aimed at acid-loving plants. As for the sooty mold, I would recommend using neem oil. Here are some articles that will help you:
