Black Fungus

After fighting two years with the black fungus destroying my roses, I pulled them all out last fall. My question is, could I plant roses in this same garden area? The area is ideal for roses, now that I know better as to how to prevent the fungus, but wonder if the soil retains the fungus.

Usually the black spot fungus dies if there is no host. However, spraying the soils down with a fungicide such as Immunox prior to planting and again after planting the new roses will give you a great start. Then after those sprayings, wait a week after planting the new roses and spray the rosebushes with a great earth friendly fungicide called Green Cure. I have used it for several years now and can say it works very well. Spray your rosebushes down with it every 10 to 14 days, you may be able to go longer if the weather is warm and dry.
