Q.Bird of Paradise

Anonymous added on January 26, 2014 | Answered

My bird of paradise leaves were damaged by the cold weather we had in central Florida this winter. Do I cut off the entire stalk or the leaves that are damaged? Thank you.

I am sorry to hear about your plant. If the stems are still alive, they will regrow their leaves. Prune away any black or brown leaves. These are dead and will not recover but leave anything that is green. I would also give it some phosphorus rich fertilizer to help get it to bloom again.
