Q.Bird of Paradise?

yvonne added on April 21, 2013 | Answered

I have that plant and it is about 40 years old and about 8 feet tall. I am wondering if I can cut the whole thing back. Would it grow? Do you have any suggestions because it is too big?

Instead of cutting the entire plant back, have you considered dividing it? I saw mine into quarters and replant. I also groom before or adder dividing, taking any misshapen, ripped or discolored leaves out. They adjust quickly. I've found that BoP seem to bloom best when crowded.
