Bird of Paradise

Question

I have a big bird of paradise; however, some of the leaves do not open all the way. They may open half way and then the rest is still rolled up to a sharp point. What am I doing wrong and/or what can I do to help? Thanks.

It sounds as though your bird of paradise needs more lighting. Without adequate sunlight, the leaves won’t open fully. Try to keep the plant within 5 feet of a window that provides at least 4 hours of direct sunlight a day for best results.

Try more water and sunlight. The leaves won’t open all the way without a lot of sun. My bird of paradise is outside and is doing great; Although you may also try sitting it outside for a few hours in direct sunlight.
