bird of paradise

we have planted giant bird of paradise next to our concrete pool, but ive read the roots are strong and could crack the concrete wall of the pool?? is this correct? should we dig them out, as they are getting quite established now.

Roots go out and yes they can damage concrete.
It would be best to remove before damage occurs.
