Is there a real world situation where plants might be exposed to faster/bigger conditions naturally?

If you mean conditions that would make it grow bigger or faster, then yes, this is possible. A plant could, for example, find itself growing in a pile of manure (don’t laugh) and that would be very nutrient rich and would help it to grow quite large and fast. There are many situations where this type of thing could naturally happen to a plant.
