Q.Big Leaves

Anonymous added on April 15, 2012 | Answered

A few of our 100 tulips have enormous leaves and no flowers. These are three years old. We have not fertilized. Would 9-9-6 fertilizer be appropriate? The rest are beautiful. Also, some colors came back pink or red instead of the colors last year. Why?

There are several reasons why tulips fail to bloom. As for the color, this usually has to deal with the soil pH, which can often affect flower color. Here is an article that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/tulips/tulips-bloom-every-year.htm
