Q.bicolored salvia

Zone 29455 | Anonymous added on January 10, 2017 | Answered

When do I cut back my salvia plants? I know there is a liquid in the stem and do I cut them back in February? I live in Charleston County in South Carolina. Also, how close to the ground do I cut my salvia down?

Thank you.

You should dead head the old blossoms during blooming to encourage longer blossoming.
Wait until new growth begins in spring to do the winter clean up of the plant. Then just prune away the old material.
