Best solution for INDOOR plant project

Question

I would appreciate your knowledge and advice for this INDOOR plant project.

Measurements:
36” length x 12” depth (with a two-step arrangement, there can be two parallel rows; each row with 6” depth) x 20” height

Look:
I am hoping to create a hedge-like look. Almost a solid wall of greenery.

Possibilities:

Wheat grass? (can wheat grass be trimmed occasionally on the top, leaving the original plant intact?)
Cat grass?
Outdoor lawn grass?
Ground cover? Note: if ground cover solution is selected, height is not important. The 20” height space can easily display the vertical wall of the plant container.

Details:

area receives indirect bright light.
there is no direct sun.
seeking a pretty easy to maintain, pretty hardy plant solution

Typical types of grass that grow in lawns do not work well for a grass houseplant. I would recommend wheatgrass or even ryegrass for your gardening endeavor. Cat grass would also work, but if you have indoor cats that could pose a problem if you don’t want them getting into it. Any grass you choose can be trimmed off the top.

As for ground cover, how about an ivy? English ivy would be a good one in particular. It is easy to grow and thrives in nearly any lighting condition. There are other ivys you can grow indoors, which are discussed in the following article:
