I would think it depends on what type plant you prefer. Many cactus and succulents would love a western windowsill. Tropicals like maranta, dracaena, diffienbachia, philodendrun, scheffelera, nematanthus, and others will thrive in high light through a window. Even African Violets should work, but in summer they might get a litttle toto much light but could be shielded by a sheer curtain.
