Q.Best Container Plants For Hummingbirds
Hello! I would like to attract hummingbirds to my yard without having to do the constant cleaning and refilling of hummingbird feeders. I live in Central Texas, zone 8b. I’d like to have the plants close to windows where we could watch them from indoors when it’s too hot or pollen-infested. Therefore, I’d need to plant them in containers — a couple of planters (no larger than 3′ x 3′ on the back deck, a 12″ or so hanging basket in front of the kitchen window). Can you help me pick good plants that fit these criteria? I would prefer a red, orange or bright pink blossom, simply because I think those attract hummers better. (Not that I’m an expert.) Drought tolerant, deer-resistant and easy to take care of would be best, as neither I nor my husband are expert gardeners. Thank you!

There are lots of flowering plants that will provide nectar for hummingbirds. Those suitable for container culture in zone 8 include:

If it's not too hot in your location and you can provide some shade, fuchsias are great for hummingbirds in a hanging basket.
