Q.Bearded Irises – Transplanting

Anonymous added on February 15, 2014 | Answered

We are at present dividing our irises, around 100+, and now have them all out of the ground. We are racing against the clock, as we are going on holiday for 6 weeks and wondered if they could stay out of the ground until we return at the end of March.

As long as you keep them dry and in a dark location, the rhizomes should be fine until you can get them in the ground. These articles will help with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/iris/storing-iris-rhizomes.htm, https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/iris/dividing-transplanting-iris.htm
