Base of trunk looks like it’s rotting and uprooting! What can I do!

Question

We were told not to put a lot of soil around the trunk or it will rot! Now it looks like it’s dying?
Then we put sheep manure and soil to cover the base and it looks worse!

You didn't say what kind of tree this is, so my best advice is to contact an arborist for help.
