Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comMy barrel cactus is turning yellow about 1″ at the base. It is about 3″ tall about a few years old. It is in a pot with another one that is slightly taller and there are many babies around both cactus. If I cut off the yellowing part at the base, I won’t have much of a plant left! Can I root what is left? They are in a 6″ clay pot. Should I take out the cactus with yellow. It is hard to see in the photo

Check the soil. This can be due to overwatering.
The soil should be of a sandy type and dry well in-between waterings.
Over watering or the soil staying soggy can result in the cactus developing root rot.
Check the soil, don’t rely on a watering schedule.
