Bare patches on lawn

In trying to re-seed over bare patches on my lawn, I applied Silver Sand on top of the seed. It appears I may have put on too much sand and as a consequence have killed off the areas where the sand was placed. In addition there is no sign of the expensive seed germinating. Will it come again if I leave it over winter or would you suggest digging up the patches and either re-seeding or turfing.

The sand may have prevented the seed from germinating since you don’t see any results. You could rake out as much as possible and try reseeding again. It may be wise to have a talk with your local extension service for their thoughts.
