bamboo

A week back I planted two bamboo plants in a big pot filled with soil. They are kept at a shady area but received some direct sunlight for a few hours up till the next day. Later the leaves have turned noticeably dry and brown. Now the leaves on the right one are all dead and gone. Is it because of the direct sunlight, over-fertilization or transplant shock? Can you please have a glimpse of the attached (recent) picture and tell me what is wrong with the plants? Will new leaves come from existing cane? Thank you (I have installed a plastic shade right above them and also giving the plants extra water to flush out the excess fertilizer)-JIMMY

There are SO many reasons that a bamboo plant turns brown!

Fertilizing bamboo is one of those things you need to be very careful about, as is excess water. Your best option at this point might be to follow the instructions in this article to re-pot them and continue to keep them in the shade:
