Back To Amaryllis

I buy one every year. After Xmas and the bloom is gone, I discard it in the yard. This past year, I bought one, did the usual, had the blooms but kept the plant & bulb. It’s still sitting in the pot with soil. The leaves are tall and still green. Nobody tells us what to do at that point. Should I cut the leaves off and repot it? They’re not expensive but I’m better with outside gardening than inside. This is my 1st time trying to salvage one – it’s my experiment. I can’t plant it outside nor do I want to (live in New England) but I just want to see if I can do it. Do I cut the leaves back to the top of the bulb or leave it alone, hope that I’ll see flower stems?

You don't cut the leaves off. They are supplying new energgy to the bulb. When you withhold water in the fall, the leaves will dieback naturally. Here is more:
