Azalea Plants

Q.azalea in kansas has black leaves and buds

The plant is new. We put it in a few weeks ago and the leaves are turning blackish and the new buds have black on them now. It is sitting in partial shade. Help, afraid it is dying.

Given the presence of what I believe to be black sooty mold, I would inspect your azalea for an insect infestation by scale or aphids. More information on these pests and a recommended course of treatment can be found in the following articles:

OK
