Q.Azaleas Dying After Blooming.

Zone Alabaster Al. 35007 | Anonymous added on May 15, 2023 | Answered

Over the last 7 months I have bought and planted 15 Azaleas. The all bloomed this spring but then about 7 did not produce new leaves and are dying while the rest are doing great. See attached pictures.

One thing to check is how they are planted. Were they planted at the same height as they were in the pot? Is the mulch pulled away from the stem? Is the soil acidic?

In the photos, the two losing leaves look like the base of the plant has mulch right up to it which can cause stem rot. Crown rot is possible when plants are too deep in the soil.
