azalea plant and too much water

I planted an azalea bush around the 1st of April,no freeze but received 10 inches of rain in 10 days. Flowering was looking good, no many of the flowers have fallen off- was the plant damaged with too much water?

The rain simply may have knocked off the flowers. Make sure the soil is draining. If the soil is poorly draining it can lead to root rot.
