Q.Azalea Not Flowering

Anonymous added on May 2, 2011 | Answered

We have a deciduous azalea ‘Mary Poppins’ that has been planted in a large tub. We used ericaceous compost and have kept it well watered. It did not flower last May and does not look like it’s going to be flowering this year. It has no buds on it. The leaves are green with a tinge of red. Can you help?

It sounds as though the plant is lacking phosphorus. This would cause the plant to stop blooming. Add some phosphorus to the soil. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/phosphorus-plant-growth.htm
