Avocado plant tree

Hello lovely experts,
I’ve just moved from Portugal to Surrey, UK. I grew an avocado plant from its stone and it is now 12 years old. In Portugal it lived happily outside but obviously in England I am keeping it indoors. I left it in a very small pot to keep it from growing any larger as I had always planned to bring it and now here it is. My question is; what type of earth should I get it, are there two or more types I should be mixing together? I am re-potting it into a slightly larger sturdier pot but not too much bigger. Also giving it a little prune. Do I prune it at the same time as re-potting into newer earth or better to prune it and give it a few days?
I feel so sentimental about this tree as I put the pit in water and it shot roots and grew from when I met and started dating my now husband. Most people think I’m nuts having brought it with me to the UK. Sentimental value for you. 🙂

The best mix would be a good potting mix amended with sand, and compost. This will ensure that the tree gets what it needs and has good drainage. After that you will want to fertilize with a slow release, all-purpose fertilizer.

This tree will need as much light as you can give it.

It is also important to note that the trees have separate sexes. You need a male tree and a female tree to produce fruits on the female tree. Otherwise, you can just keep it as an ornamental.
