Q.At What Age Do You Not to Cover a Fig Tree?

Zone phila, pa | figfritter added on October 10, 2012 | Answered

I have a green fig tree and it is healthy and 5 years old. Always burlaped. As I look around, I see other trees never covered and wonder why. Can I let grow as is now? Any advice will be helpful.

It really depends on the vareity you are growing and area in which you live. Hardier types require little care over winter, but more tender types need protection or overwintering indoors. This article should help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/fig-cold-protection.htm
