Aspen Suckers

Question

I have two aspen trees in my backyard. They are 8 years old, and last year they started to shoot up through my lawn. What can I do to keep my trees, but get rid of the sucker shoots?

Cut the suckers as they come up and paint the fresh cuts with Round-up. It may take a few times but that will do it.
