Asparagus

Question

I cannot get a answer to this question. My asparagus have grown one year know. I cut the green frizzy stuff off and all these asparagus came up out of the ground. The internet has told me not to pick them off. All I want to know is do I pick them off and discard them or do I let them stay on the plant until when? I need to know this answer, PLEASE! The one asparagus looks like a tree now with a stem and all these little asparagus coming out of the limb.
