Asparagus Cutting Back

This is the second year I have had my asparagus bed. I started it from plants. It did not get cold enough here in South Ga. to kill the plants back or did they ever turn completely brown or yellow, so I was afraid to cut them back. They are now heavy with green foliage and have seeds. Some have balls on them instead of seeds and others have seeds. When should I cut them back, as several are falling over and breaking loose at the bottom?
