Asparagus

Question

We bought BonniePlant asparagus seedlings (not realizing crowns might have been better). We are planting them as this says but how will we know how the crown is developing. How close can the seedlings be? the picture seeems misleading versus the instructions.

It usually takes a year for seedlings to form crowns.
