Q.Are These Shrubs Repairable?

Zone 60440 | Anonymous added on June 8, 2021 | Answered

Hi, my boxwoods on separate sides of my home both appear to be dead. You can see some small blooming at the bottom of some. The same has happened to my barberry(I believe that is what they are). Are either of these repairable? If so, so I cut from the dead tops?

Cut your boxwoods all the way to the green and see if they regrow. They are slow growers, so if you don't like the look, you may want to replace. The barberry just needs the dead part of the stems removed. It looks good otherwise. Just a little winter kill.
