Are figs with dark spots ok?

Question

I pick figs from a neighbors tree bot tut the figs have dark spots on then. Are they good? My husband says I have to get rid of the ones with dark spots on them but that is nearly all of them. I wanted to make fig preserves with them

Most fruit with some markings or spots are completely safe to eat. Without seeing the damage, I can't say for certain what the fruit is damaged from.
