Apricots

I have an apricot tree that isn’t producing one leaf or sign of life. It’s in its 5th year. Last year was first year it produced fruit. The branches don’t snap right off when I try and break one to see if it’s dead. It’s hard to break a stem or branch. The sapper growth at the base just started growing about a week ago, so the tree isn’t dead right?

As long as it is green below the bark, it will leaf out. I would give it a little additional time. Some areas of the country are receiving late cold weather rather than their normal springtime temps and this could have confused the natural progression for your tree if you’ve been experiencing lower than average temperatures for this time of year.
