Q.Apricot Dropping Fruit and Leaves

Zone 9 | treeboy added on May 3, 2013 | Answered

Apricots fall off with only the slightest touch or breeze. Fruit is 3/4″ and tree seems healthy. I deep water every 10 days for about 2hrs.

Most stone fruits lose some of their fruit in the spring. This is natural and just the tree's way of ensuring healthier growth.

If you are seeing excessive leaf and fruit drop, then I would look to the roots for a root problem. Also, take a look at the falling leaves. If they are spotted or blotchy, this would indicate a fungus problem and the tree should be treated in a fungicide.
