Apples and Gases

Anonymous added on October 24, 2016 | Answered

My husband dehydrated lots of apples and while doing so my eyes started burning and my throat seems sore. He has been doing this for the last few nights and the same thing happens. Other times during the day I am fine, it's just when the does the apples. Is there a kind of gas that apples give off? Thank you Kristi

I cannot speak to your reaction that you had while the fruit was drying.
This is outside any expertise here at Gardening Know How.

Here is a link that gives a great over view of ethylene gas from fruit.
