Any Trees/shrubs For Western Canada Small Yard?

I have reviewed several native trees to my area and they are all too wide. I would like to replace my small shared lawn (since my neighbor is not going to weed his dandelions and I am tired of pulling 3000 of them out of my part of the lawn each year) with trees or something.
