Ants on Hibiscus

I want to overwinter a potted hibiscus in my home, but I noticed that ants are living in the pot/dirt. When I water it, they swarm out. How do I get rid of them before bringing it in?

You can get rid of them by treating your soil with a pesticide or by replacing the soil in the pot (which is likely the best way to go). Cornmeal is often used in home remedies for treating ants. These articles should also provide suggestions for getting rid of ants:
