anthuriums dying two days after receiving them in post

I was given two anthurium plants for Christmas as indoor plants. They were very dry, so I watered them and put them on a north facing windowsill with a double glazed window. They only lasted two days and the went crisp and died. What did I do wrong?

It is best to make sure that these never receive direct light, as this will kill them quickly. They also like to be misted on occasion to simulate a more tropical environment.

This article will give you more information on the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/anthurium/anthurium-care.htm [1]
