Annuals for Hot Pots

I have a few ceramic pots in very sunny locations. The soil gets very warm and the plants I’ve tried so far don’t do well. What annuals have you used that did well in these conditions?

Marigolds, zinnias, vinca, coleus for sun, grasses, trailing rosemary, pentas, – but keep in mind that pots dry out very fast and usually need watering every day. In some places that are experiencing great heat, it is twice a day. Small pots are not a good idea. Water is the biggest factor in keeping your pots looking good. Most people do not water enough. Of course that leaches out the nutrients, too, so fertilizing with a common brand of 20-20-20 every two weeks (follow package directions for mixing) will help. Be sure to pick off dead blossoms to extend blooming.
