Q.Amaryllis plants

Zone Carbondale, IL 62901 | Anonymous added on November 12, 2018 | Answered

I have several amaryllis plants that came from one original plant. I bought it for my husband who has since passed away and I don’t know how to take care of them. The long leaves are about 2 1/2 ft. long but there are no stems for future flowers. They seem healthy otherwise but I haven’t seen flowers for almost a year and a half. What should I do?

I would send a photo but don’t know how. I could send a photo from my ipad if I knew your email address.

To flower properly, they will need some dormancy period. This article will give you more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/amaryllis-hippeastrum/amaryllis-bulb-storage.htm
