Q.Amaryllis

Anonymous added on February 5, 2014 | Answered

My amaryllis is now a couple of years old. I live in FL, so it stays outside year round. It gets very long leaves now, but no flowers. How can I get it to flower now that Dec. is over? Should I cut all the leaves off? Thanks!

Amaryllis actually need a dormant period to be able to bloom again. If possible, restrict water to the area. The leaves will die back on their own and then in the spring resume normal watering. The leaves will regrow and you should see blooms shortly after this.
