Q.Amaryllis

Zone 94565 | janeski added on April 18, 2016 | Answered

My Christmas Amaryllis gave me 6 gorgeous flowers, one of which is still in bloom. My daughter removed the others after they died, but now those stalks seem to have additional bulbs on them at the top – is this possible? They are 1/2 to 1 inch around and look like they are going to bloom again…we have had the plant in and out the stalk portion is close to 3 feet tall on each; this is all in a 8-10 inch round container it came in – ceramic. We water when the plant is dry and bring indoors at night, as it is still quite cool even though we are in sunny California. What should we do next?

Your Amaryllis has formed seed pods.
It takes 3 to 5 weeks for the seed pod to dry and will split open and the black seeds will be visible.
The seeds can be planted in the fall or saved for next spring.
