Amaryllis

Hi, My Amaryllis has beautiful healthy LONG green leaves but has not bloomed. Should I cut the leaves off and then put the pot in a dark place?

Thank you!!

This can happen if the plant does not get a dormancy each year. They require dormancy to properly flower the next season. First you should expose them to cool tempuratures, and less light than normal. This will force them into dormancy. This link will guide you through the process of bringing them into a dormant state so that you may have flowers next year: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/amaryllis-hippeastrum/amaryllis-bulb-storage.htm [1]
