Aloe Vera – slug damage

My aloe vera was outside for a couple months whilst I moved house. It was knocked over and all of the base leaves (approx the bottom quarter of the plant) has been eaten by slugs. The top of the plant looks healthy. I understand if I remove these bottom damaged leaves, they won’t grow back. If I do this, the base of my plant will be bald. Can I repot and bring the soil further up the stem (to cover where the leaves have been removed)?

There is no harm in doing this. They will send out roots in the newly added soil just fine. Also, you may want to spray the plant down with Neem oil mixed in water, to prevent any other insect infestation.
