Q.african violet not propgating
Sometimes when I propgate a leaf from my African violets and plant the rooted leaves they do not send up any new leaves for a new plant to grow.
I have started new plants over the years. These plants have bloomed and I give them away.
Sometimes after planted the rooted leaf in african violet soil the leaves do not make a new plant.
This has happened 3 times this year with 4 leaves. After 8 months I tossed them out. The leaf in each pot was still alive and they all had the roots from the leaf that I propgated.
Why are these leaves not making a new plant?
I have taught my daughter how to do this years ago and she grows them and enjoys giving away the new plants also.
Thank you for answering.
Thank you for replying to my question. I just couldn't figure out why the leaves were not propgating as they always had for me.
It may have been the older leaves that I was using. Now, I have taken a young leaf and will try this one.
I have done several for family members as they love the color of my violet. Another granddaughter wants a start off of it.
Not every leaf will be a successful propagation.
