Q.Advice On Pruning Gangly Mock Orange

Zone 66226 | Anonymous added on June 19, 2023 | Answered

Hello. I learned a great deal from your article on pruning mock orange. However, I’m not sure how to proceed with mine. It’s a mature shrub and has always performed well. However, this year it grew in such a way that one side is gangly with few leaves on the lower portion of many limbs. I hope the attached photos give you some sense of the problem. How would you recommend I prune it this year? I was planning on doing so over the next couple of weeks. I live in zone 6. Thanks very much—I really appreciate it.
