Q.Adding new garden soil or top soil after using grass and weed killer.
I put down some grass and weed killer and want to use some new garden soil or top soil to put down some new plants and then use weed blocker fabric. Will the new soil cause more weeds to come back? I don’t want anymore grass in my small back yard anymore. Did not have the time or energy to remove all the grass, so I put down grass and weed killer and covered the planting area with weed block and want to plant some plants and ground cover. Should I start with fresh garden soil or top soil or just add my manure, compost, peat moss directly to the hole I will be planting in where the weed killer was or just start fresh with new soil just not sure?
There are commercial options available, but these may affect the soil negatively for the next seeding. If the problem isn't too bad, then you can pour boiling water on the weeds, and reseed the lawn.
