Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI’ve had an acer in a pot for two years and it has been fine. This year it only has leaves on the lower half. My question is will the top get leaves or do I need to prune it back. I have never pruned it.

I would only prune it if it is completely dead. You can check by breaking off the tip until you find living plant material. It will be “bendy” and not brittle, and green, or living. Prune out anything that is truly dead, and it will recover.
