Q.Acidic soil with lots of shade.

Zone Western Cape, SA. | Anonymous added on October 21, 2017 | Answered

House is on the edge of a pine forest. Acidic soil and more shade than sun but plenty water. Live in SA, Western Cape, frost free. Need a lawn or something resembling a lawn, that will grow under these conditions, please?

Mosses are often a good option for an acidic, moist area with a lot of shade. They can be made into lawns, often with the help of a brick path or patio:

Here are some ideas for shade ground covers, which can be used in place of a lawn. I am not sure which of these are available in South Africa.
